Acute Kids Urgent Care

Have you been to one yet? Maybe they are just here in Texas. We love ours. Anytime one of the kids is sick after hours or weekends, that is where we head. So this weekend, after miss baby woke up, I took her to change her diaper. Looked down and just saw white stuff up her nose. What was the mystery white stuff…batting from her pillow, that she managed to get her finger in some hole. That pillow is now in the trash, and she has a new one! :) So I got some tweezers and pulled as much out as I could. Looked back up that nose, and there was a ton more shoved way up there. So I got my suction bulb and sucked away…nothing. Tried putting saline up there and then squirting it out. Nothing. I called our pediatrician, and he said I probably should bring her in to the Acute Kids Urgent Care. I would have gone to his office, but they were getting ready to close for the day. So we went, and they laid her down and got some really LONG tweezers. And out came another piece that was almost an inch long and as wide as her little nostril. Covered in SNOT! I am sure she felt much better once it was out! Anyways, I am thankful that we have a clinic like that close to us. That they specialize in kids. That the price is the same as an office visit. And they should really seriously considering us doing a commercial for them, since we like them so much! :)

12:45 AM

Yes you did read that time right! I am WIDE awake. So much on my mind. In so many aspects of our life right now, things are great. And then there are other aspects, that just leave me wondering, “Lord what is your purpose in all this?” Many that have read this blog know that we took in a single mom and her daughter. The mom is now in a program called Teen Challenge. And has been for 5 months. We have been keeping her daughter for her. She has now decided to give her up for adoption. At some point on this journey, me and Tony thought we would adopt her. But really feel like we are not to adopt her. And we thought we had a family picked oiut, and then me and Tony felt like God was asking us to wait, and hold off on that family. We prayed about some requests that we had, and the very next day God gave us very specific answers. Can I just tell you how hard it was for us to back out of something that another family was going to be hurt over. Another family had there hopes shattered for the moment. Can I tell you how bad I hurt for that family, to know that I was going to cause them pain because I was just being obedient. I have cried buckets for them. Prayed for them. I know it does not take there pain all the way away. Only God can bring the healing that they need. They are good people, but God had a different family in mind. I can honestly tell you, that we are doing what the Lord has asked us to do. As soon as we made that decision, we had complete peace. And the answers that He gave us to the questions that we had, it just makes me stand amazed at Him, because only He could have pulled it off so perfectly with how He answered us. No one can ever tell me that God does not answer prayers. He does.

It is so hard, when everything seems so perfect, and the Lord tells you no. Will you be willing to stand up and do what he asks? Even if you have to stand alone? I am not trying to look for a pity party, because we know we did the right thing. Doing the right thing is not always easy. But you know what God sees the full picture, and I don’t. He knows what baby needs better than I do. His love for her, is deep.

So now we are praying about where we go from here. We have some direction, and we are just waiting on the Lord to guide us, and we know he will. We dont know how He is going to work it all out, but we know HE is going to work it all out. So whatever you are facing today remember:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord … “(Psalm 37:23)

“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5)

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalm 32:8)

“The Lord will guide you continually …” (Isaiah 58:11)

Look these up, study them, memorize them. God’s word is our anchor in the hard times and the good times.

Gerbils…

So our gerbils had babies last week. Right now we have 6, we think we had more than that. So they either died and the mama ate them. Gross huh? OR we just miss counted the little things as they ran circles around us. They have grown so much in just a few days, and have started to get hair. Tonight we are going to try and determine the sex of them. They say it is easier to do when they are this little. We shall see. So does anyone want one????? If you live locally and want gerbils, you can have 1,2,3 or all 6. :)

Come on you know you want them. I really dont like gerbils, BUT this has been a great science experiment for the kids. The birth, and taking care of the babies, and watching them grow, and what not.

We read that if you dont take out the dad as soon as they are born they will mate again and have more babies within the next 30 or so days. We unfortunately read that 2 days late. We will see what happens! We might get to go through this experience again. :)
