Peach Crunch Cake

This recipe I found on Bakerella. It is so easy. So yummy. So go buy yourself some peaches and try it out!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Start by dumping 24.5 oz jar of sliced peaches in light syrup in a 13 X 9 dish. The whole thing. Just dump it in. Once I dumped mine in, I took a knife and cut them up a bit.

God is Able

Let’s go to Ephesians 3:20-21

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever, and ever, Amen.”

Did you get that, he can do MORE than what we can even think? Now the real question I pose is this: Do you REALLY believe that?? John says in his book “No matter how big you can think or how far reaching your request may be, HIS power in us is able to do MORE. So in essence it’s our thinking that limits the power of God residing in us” We have settled so FAR short of HIS ability. And it is not just power from time to time. That was not what he was referring too. It was not just a special power for the apostles. No, it’s HIS POWER that works in us, that resides in us.

In Ephesians & in the amplified Bible it says:

Now to Him WHO, by…the {action of HIS} power that is at work within us, is able to {carry out His purpose and } do super-abundantly, far over and above all that we {dare} ask or think {infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams}—to Him be glory.

So why do we not see this in our lives. If He is SO able, then what is wrong with us or maybe I should just say ME?

Did you notice the one word that is key to all of this: ABLE. God is able. But we come to Him with a small container. And he only fills that small container. BUT he has SO Much more to give us. And I am not just talking about material things. So it is our thinking that limits God in our life. I think that is why He continually reminds us all through Proverbs to watch our thoughts, watch what goes in our heart. We have quit boldly asking God for anything because we do not want to set ourselves up for failure. But how come it is then when we are backed into a bad situation we go to God in all this faith. Is it really our true faith or faith just out of desperation. Jesus never allowed the disciples to have such lame excuses. He said on numerous occasions “where is your faith” Luke 8:25, “Do you still have no faith” Mark 4:40, “What little faith you have” Matthew 6:30, “You don’t have much faith, Why did you doubt me” Matthew 14:31 and many more occasions. Jesus constantly rebuked his disciples for not having enough faith. If Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow {Hebrews 13:8}, then do you think that he would rebuke us for not having enough faith? Just a thought.

So why sometimes is our faith so complicated? For myself, I think of some of the things that I have gone through, or maybe some of the stuff my dad said to me growing up, failures, sin, I think I could write a long list! But you fill in the blank______?? It starts to define who we are. But that is our downfall, because we are allowing things of this world to define who we are, but we need to allow the word of God to define us. We need to be in his WORD, and find out what God says about us, how he feels about us. And when that takes place, something shifts in our minds and hearts. I think then, we can come more boldly before HIM, and ask in such great faith above what we can even think. And it won’t even necessarily be things, but when we get to Know HIM our desires become like HIS. Because when we really get to know God, we know that HE does not disappoint us and we will feel “safe” to come boldly before HIM. For those that would like just a great list, Joyce Meyer has a great list on who we are in Christ, so check this article out!

So my encouragement to you today, is to get into HIS word and REALLY find out how much your Lord loves you and secondly dig deep within yourself and find those hidden dreams the Lord has given to you and then go boldly before Him, and sit back and watch what He does. And what is really awesome is that in return He will receive all the glory because He will do more than what you have imagined & You will have done it with the Lord working through you!

Alpha Omega

So we are homeschooling my oldest son for a variety of reasons. Soon I will post why we CHOOSE to home-school. We are using the Alpha Omega curriculum. I like it. I wanted to try ACE as well. Thinking about using it next year. So my question is what has worked for you? When do you home-school during the day? Do you keep a strict schedule? How do you do it? Do you use just one curriculum or several? Are you part of a home-school group? I know every family is different. And I am taking from others, what I feel will work for us. But would love some feedback. :) So any lurkers out there let me know what you think!

Honor

I read this article today, and thought it was worthy enough to share! Enjoy.

Parenting Tip

February 11, 2010
Honoring Someone Who Doesn’t Seem to Deserve It

Learning how to honor each other in the family is so important because it raises the value of relationships over the issues that might otherwise cause division. When challenged with the concept that honor means to value others, one teen responded honestly, “How can you honor someone you don’t really value?” This can be a very real problem and not just for teens. Parents also must honor their children even when their worth or value is not easily apparent.

A teen might dishonor his mom because he doesn’t appreciate her and even considers her opinions foolish. He may overreact, pull away, or make sarcastic remarks. Mom, in turn, may react with anger when treated poorly and over time lose any sense of value she once had for her son. The loss of worth on the part of both parent and teen leads to an erosion in the relationship.

It’s especially harmful when parents give up or become hostile in response to teen rejection. We believe this to be a serious parenting mistake that may contribute to young people searching for different friends and authorities who will listen and accept them.

The solution is to learn to honor by faith. This means that we trust that all people have value in God’s sight and that our job is to treat them in better ways than they seem to deserve. This isn’t easy and, as parents, it sometimes becomes a real walk of faith. Children can be downright irritating but working with them without degrading them is part of the job.

How have you seen honor transform your family relationships?

Sisters

Here is a picture of me and my sisters and my dad this past weekend at Holly’s baby shower. I wish I lived closer to my sisters so that I could see them and there babies more often. I always dreamt that we would live close. But we don’t. So it is what it is. It just means we have to get together more often. :)

FUNNY Commercial

Okay I saw this commercial tonight, and I think it is so funny!

History

I love this song. I play it often.

History:
It’s been a bad day, you’ve been looking back
And all you can see is everything you wish you could take back
All your mistakes, a world of regrets
All of those moments you would rather forget
I know it’s hard to believe
Let me refresh your memory

Chorus:
Yesterday is history
And history is miles away
So leave it all behind you
Let it always remind you of the day
The day that love made history

You know you can’t stay right where you fell
The hardest part is forgiving yourself
But let’s take a walk into today
And don’t let your past get in the way

Repeat chorus

Would you believe that you are history
In the making, in the making
Every choice that you are making
Every step that you are taking
Every chain that you are breaking
History is in the making
Every word that you are saying
Every prayer that you are praying
Every chain that you are breaking
History is in the making
History is in the making
History is in the making
